Game Show Trivia, or 'Pot Luck' FAQs

Call it game show trivia. But a lot of questions defy easy categorization, which is why I created this "Pot Luck" page. (Hey, isn't "Pot Luck" a category on Jeopardy? If it isn't, it should be -- except it makes me want a casserole. But I digress...)

Is the Hot Seat really hot?
Definitely. Those studio lights, not to mention raw nerves, can cook a contestant in no time flat. Kind of like a casserole, but not as tasty.

Does the audience really care whether contestants win or lose?
This is another big "yes." From my own experience, I believe the audience truly cares and is rooting for the contestants. When I was in the hot seat, I can honestly say I felt their support and well wishes. Their positive energy filled the entire studio. It made a huge difference and made me feel terrific. After the show, I ran into a couple of audience members on the street. They congratulated me by name and seemed genuinely happy for me. The audience was wonderful!

Was there a downside to appearing on the show?
Yes. For months after the taping, and sometimes even now, I simply can't bring myself to watch the Millionaire. When I see contestants lose big chunks of money, or walk away with nothing, it breaks my heart. Why? Because I now know what those contestants went through to get that far, and it makes me crazy to see them disappointed. On the other hand, when I see contestants win, I'm obnoxiously happy for them.
