How to Play Game Shows for Real

Want to play game shows for real money? Ready to spin that Wheel of Fortune? Answer the question, "Deal or no deal?" Or sit in the "Millionaire" hot seat? Ever dream of winning big money as a real-life game-show contestant?

Or, maybe you're a fellow game show fan looking for the inside scoop on life as a contestant or free game show games to play online? Either way, thanks for stopping by!

For Future Contestants
If you want to become a game show guru, you're in the right place. This site is designed not just for casual game show fans, but for those seeking an honest edge in their quest to win real money and prizes on a TV game show.

For Fellow Game Show Fans And, if you're just looking for free game shows to play online, or the answers to your burning questions about the contestant audition process, or life in the Millionaire Hot Seat ( Is the "hot seat" really hot? And, Is the green room really green?), welcome!

You can't lose either way. Game shows are loads of fun, sure, but if you're looking to play game shows for real money, they're also serious business. This leads me to something I learned during my own game show quest:

To play game shows for real, you must make your own luck. Some people call game show winners lucky, but that's only partly true. Preparation is the other secret to winning real money. This preparation falls into several categories.

  • Studying if the show is trivia-based.
  • Knowing where and when to audition.
  • Wowing the casting directors in one minute or less.
  • Knowing when to take chances and when to play it safe.

Whether you're on a mission to achieve game show fame and fortune -- or just stopping by for fun, please make yourself at home. I love to talk game shows, and have plenty of fun stuff to satisfy the curiosity of fellow game show fans.

About Me and My Mission to Play Game Shows

Before my stint on "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire," I was always curious:

How do you become a game show contestant??

How can you make the most of your casting call?

When you play game shows on TV, what goes on behind the scenes?

Who wins bigger money? Guys are gals?

Funny-looking contestants: Is there hope for the homely?

Does the audience really care whether contestants win or lose?
So I set out on a mission – to get the inside scoop and even better, win big money. My quarry? A spot in the famed "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire" hot seat.

The goal seemed pretty far-fetched at the time. I'm no Ken Jennings. I'm just an average person right down to my shoe size. (Okay, I have freakishly wide feet, but the length of my feet is still average. Sort of.)

So, on my wide little feet, I pursued that elusive "Millionaire" slot like a Mallard on Mountain Dew, all the way from Northern Alabama to New York City -- twice. The first time was to audition. The second time was to try my luck in the real-life hot seat.

Armed with trivia books, plane tickets, and a whole lot of support from friends and family, one amazing day in September, I won 100,000 dollars on "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire." I'm incredibly thankful, not just for the money, but for the experience. It unforgettable.

Sounds simple. Play game shows, win easy money, right? I wish! What you don't see on TV is the months of preparation it took to get that far.

If you're ready to play game shows for real, I'd love to see you become a real-life contestant too. When I was a game show hopeful, good information seemed hard to find.

This site's goal? To satisfy your curiosity, and hopefully give you an edge in your gameshow quest.

Some of my theories are hair-brained. Some are common-sense. Some won't work for everyone. A few are illegal in 27 states, but I won't tell you which ones.

Yes, I'm no expert, but I played one on TV.

Ultimately, it's up to you. Play your game show cards right, and with a lot of preparation, along with a good dose of luck, maybe, just maybe, you too can win big money on national TV. I sure hope so!
