Wheel of Fortune Auditions

Ready to spin that big wheel for real game show money? Wheel of Fortune auditions are among the most competitive, numbers-wise, but that doesn't mean your odds are impossible.

Generally speaking, over a million people each year try to get on the show via Wheel of Fortune Auditions. Yet, fewer than 600 are usually selected. If 600 out of a million people are selected, this means your odds are of making it onto this popular game show are approximately one in 1,667. Talk about long odds!

Ready for a Lightning Strike? But before you give up, consider this. According to the U.S. National Weather Service, the odds of being struck by lightning in the USA -- in a single year -- are one in 700,000. This means your odds of getting selected as a Wheel of Fortune contestant are actually 420 times better than getting struck by lightning. See, don't you feel luckier already? Can I get an "L" for "Lucky," Vanna? (No, no, no, NOT an "L" for "Lightning." Lucky. I said Lucky. *sigh*.)

Critical Steps to Become a Contestant

  • Complete the Registration form for Wheel of Fortune Auditions.
  • Assuming you're lucky, this may lead to a special invitation to attend a Wheelmobile event. This is where they hold on-the-road Wheel of Fortune Auditions in select cities.
  • Pass a final audition where you'll:
    • Play a mock, mini-game along with other prospective contestants.
    • Take a five-minute written test consisting of 16 puzzles, where you fill in the missing letters.
    • Enjoy MORE mock gaming, assuming you've made the initial cut.
  • Wait for your notification by mail.
With such daunting odds, producers strongly discourage contestants from incurring any expenses whatsoever to try out for the show. (No kidding, they actually list expenses to avoid, right down to babysitting costs.)

Another warning: You are responsible for any expenses incurred for accommodations, travel to and from the audition site, and to and from the taping, whether it's in Los Angeles or another city. If they won't pay for a baby-sitter, they sure as heck won't pay for airfare, hotel, or incidentals. Drat!

Still ready to spin that wheel? For more information, check out the Wheel of Fortune Contestant FAQs. This is definitely among the best I've come across.
